Inicio Grupos Locales Grupo E66 prisoners of conscience in Cuba

The recent developments in Cuba are reason to be hopeful as to the situation of human rights on the island, though the reforms so far have been chiefly of a commercial nature. Of the 75 dissidents that were imprisoned in 2003, 55 are still in prison, for exercising their fundamental rights, some serving sentences of up to 28 years. Since then Amnesty International has learned of two new cases, and after examining the legal basis for their arrests they have also been adopted as prisoners of conscience.
We can send short, politely worded letters to the authorities requesting these prisoners’ release. We know that this is useful – many thanks for your time. |
